Using the Pebl Collect Mobile App

The Pebl Collect mobile app is what your volunteers, event staff, or team members use on the day to take payments in person.

Once your location, products, and team access have been set up in the dashboard, the app makes it easy to accept donations, sell merchandise, process raffle tickets, and take other event payments from a mobile phone.

💡 Before you start

Before using the app, make sure:

  • the user has been added to the correct location

  • the products for that location have already been set up

  • the user has downloaded the Pebl Collect app

  • they log in using the same mobile number they were invited with

  • they can receive the SMS verification code on that phone

  • ensure the phone being used is compatible (below)

Compatible devices for Tap to Pay

If you want to accept contactless payments directly on the phone using Tap to Pay, the device must meet the following minimum requirements.

iPhone

Stripe Tap to Pay on iPhone requires:

  • iPhone XS or later

  • a supported recent iOS version (Stripe describes this as a one-year-or-later iOS version)

Android

Stripe Tap to Pay on Android requires a device that:

  • has a functioning built-in NFC sensor

  • runs Android 13 or later

  • has an ARM-based processor

  • has a security update installed within the past 12 months

  • uses Google Mobile Services

  • has the Google Play Store installed

  • has a stable internet connection

  • is not rooted

  • has a locked, unchanged bootloader

  • runs the manufacturer’s unmodified OS

  • has Developer options disabled

If a device does not support Tap to Pay, users may still be able to take payments using Pay via QR code or record Cash payments instead.

Logging in

When opening the app, the user will:

  1. enter their mobile number

  2. enter the SMS verification code

  3. select their location if they have access to more than one

If they only have access to one location, they may go straight in automatically.

Taking a payment

To process a payment:

  1. Tap New Payment

  2. Select the products or donation items needed

  3. Adjust quantities or donation amount if required

  4. Tap Checkout

  5. Review the payment

  6. Select the payment method

The products shown in the app are based on what has already been set up for that location in the Pebl dashboard. Learn how to do this here.

Payment options

Depending on the device and setup, users may see:

  • Tap to Pay

  • Pay via QR code

  • Cash

Tip: Wait until the payment has been completed before handing over merchandise or finalising the transaction. Look for the BIG GREEN TICK.

Tap to Pay

Use Tap to Pay to accept a contactless card, phone, or wearable payment directly on the device. Stripe supports NFC-based wallets such as Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay through Tap to Pay.

📲 On iPhone, digital wallets such as Apple Pay or Google Pay will often feel the smoothest. Some physical contactless cards may need to be held a little more carefully against the top of the phone. Read more here. Apple's guide below: -

Pay via QR code

Use QR code if the customer would prefer to complete the payment on their own phone.

Tip: The transaction will update to PAID once they've completed the process on their device, but it's always good to ask for proof of payment form them too.

Cash

Use Cash to record a cash transaction and keep your event totals accurate.

After payment

Once the payment is complete, the user can:

  • add donor or customer details

  • share a receipt

  • return to the home screen and start the next payment

The transaction will also appear in the Pebl dashboard under the relevant location.

Main takeaway

The Pebl Collect mobile app is designed to be quick and simple on the day.

Once everything has been set up in the dashboard, your volunteers or staff can use the app to take payments easily, while all activity flows back into Pebl for visibility and reporting.
