Overview:
Once your Android device is registered, accepting Tap to Pay payments is fast and easy using the Pebl app.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Open the Pebl app.
Select the blue '+' button on the Activity screen.
Enter the transaction amount or select from your product list.
Select Tap to Pay on Android.
Ask the customer to hold their contactless card, smartphone, or smartwatch near the NFC reader of your Android.
NFC positioning varies across Android devices. Find out where the NFC reader is on your position here.
Wait for the confirmation screen and transaction approval.
💡 Pro Tip
Make sure you wait for Pebl's pop-up clearly outlining whether the payment was successful or not.
The Tap to Pay on Android screens show when the tap was successful, not when the actual payment processing has been successful. Pebl attempts to process the payment after a successful tap.
This is similar to an EFTPOS terminal. You hear a beep when the tap was successful, and then it takes 1-2 seconds to process the payment before showing a success or fail message.
FAQs and Troubleshooting Tips:
How do I know if my Android phone has NFC?
You can check if your device is NFC-compatible by viewing the list here:
👉 Check NFC-compatible devices. Most modern Android phones do support NFC, but it’s always good to double-check before getting started with Tap to Pay.
Where is the best place for my customer to tap on my Android?
The best spot for your customer to tap is typically near the back, upper-middle area of your phone. Some Android devices may vary slightly, so if the first tap doesn't register, a quick adjustment higher or lower usually does the trick. You can always search for your phone model online to find out!
What happens if tapping doesn’t work?
If a customer's tap doesn’t work right away:
Ask them to hold their card or device steady for a few seconds against your phone.
Try moving their card/device slightly up or down across the back of your phone.
Ensure NFC is turned on in your Android settings.
If it still doesn’t work, you can quickly generate a QR code in Pebl to let them pay by scanning instead — no tap needed!
