Can I still add a surcharge?

Card surcharging ended on 1 October 2026. Here's what you can do instead.

No. Card surcharging ended on 1 October 2026, and Pebl has removed the surcharging settings.

From 1 October 2026, under the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) reforms and card network rules, businesses can no longer add a surcharge to Visa or Mastercard card payments. Pebl has removed the Enable Surcharging toggle, so you can't add a card surcharge in Pebl. See Changes to card surcharging (from 1 October 2026).

Can I change my prices instead?

That's a business decision for you. Some businesses now build the cost of card payments into their overall prices, so the same price applies however the customer pays.

Charities and not-for-profits: Supporter Cover

Supporter Cover lets donors choose to cover Pebl's 1.8% platform fee, so your organisation receives the full amount. It's always the donor's choice, which is what makes it different from a surcharge.

Only available to charities and not-for-profits. Other businesses don't have this option.

Covering the fee yourself

If you don't use Supporter Cover, your customer pays exactly the listed price and the 1.8% fee is taken from your payout. For example, on a $100 payment you receive $98.20.
